Description

Occupational Heat Stress affects workers indoors and outdoors during North Dakota's unpredictable spring-fall weather. This training covers how heat stress impacts work, personal risk factors, how the body responds to heat, protective measures (PPE and work practices), workplace protections and first aid for heat illness. The goal is to help you stay safe and protect your coworkers when working in hot conditions.

Trenching and excavation activities are among the most hazardous operations in construction and utilities work. Cave-ins remain the leading cause of fatal incidents-with a single cubic yard of soil weighing as much as a small car, an unprotected trench can quickly become life-threatening.

This course provides workers, supervisors, and safety personnel with essential knowledge to recognize hazards and implement effective protective systems before anyone enters a trench.

Topics covered in this training:

  • Violations
  • Competent person requirements inspections
  • Soil classification
  • Protective measures
  • Access and egress
