Equipment Loan Program
NDLTAP has equipment available for loan to local North Dakota agencies. These items are great tools for use in making roadways safer.
How the Program Works
Requests are accepted by phone, email or online and are on a first-come, first-served basis. If the equipment is not available when your request is received, you will be added to a waiting list and notified when it becomes available.
Pick up of the equipment is the responsibility of the requesting agency. Items can be shipped, so long as they are properly insured. The agency is responsible for maintaining proper care of the equipment and for properly packaging and shipping or delivering the equipment back to our office by the due date. All risk of loss is with the borrowing agency and damaged equipment must be repaired or replaced. The agency will be required to sign an agreement on these terms – download a sample agreement (PDF, 100 KB).

Culvert Crawler
A culvert crawler is a specialized, remotely operated robotic vehicle equipped with cameras and scanners used for inspecting. For more information on the culvert crawler, visit the UplinkRobotics website.

Traffic Counter
A traffic counter is a device, often electronic in nature, used to count, classify, and/or measure the speed of vehicular traffic passing along a given roadway. NDLTAP has radar recorders that can collect data on the number of vehicles being driven on roads, along with their size and speed. Unlike traditional traffic counters, these devices are attached to utility poles or trees and use radar, so there is no need to put sensors or long tubes in the road. The placement of these counters also helps to collect more accurate information, as drivers are usually unaware that they are present.
