Description

The NDLTAP Local Roadway Signing class will cover basic and advanced topics:

  • MUTCD basics and updates
  • Sign condition assessment
  • Group design layout worksheets
  • Sign color, shape, placement, installation and size;
  • Sign supports & bases;
  • Sign inventory systems;
  • Sign ordering;
  • Retro reflectivity standards;
  • Local sign truck discussion;
  • Utility Locates.

Speaker(s)

Chris Rathjen has worked at Newman Signs, Inc. for 25 years as an administrative manager. She has a BS degree from Minot State with a major in accounting and business.

Bryon Fuchs, PE. NDLTAP Director and TTAP Co-Director. Bryon has over 25 years of Transportation Engineering experience. He led the Rural and Special Programs area in the Local Government Division overseeing oil- impact funds provided to local agencies and numerous other funding programs. He focuses on collaborating with federal, state, local, and tribal partners to make a successful transportation system across the state.

Kevin Berg is a seasoned professional in the sign industry with over a decade of experience. For the past five years, he has been an integral part of Sign Solutions USA, specializing in sales and consultation for traffic control supplies and diverse sign systems. Mike collaborates closely with county, city, and state DOTs, ensuring they have the right solutions for their signage and traffic management needs.

Target Audience

This training is perfect for new county, township, or city sign personnel. Local roadway signing is a great refresher for seasoned sign crew members. Township officers, city staff, county commissioners, road superintendents and others in supervisory roles will also benefit from this training.
