Bridges
"Not all producers are located along state and interstate highways. North Dakota's local roads and bridges are the lifeline for the state's agriculture, manufacturing and energy sectors, providing the connectivity that allows them to compete in the global economy. With 17% of the state's 3,150 bridges (does not include the bridges shorter than 20' in length) in poor shape, it is important for transportation leaders focus on rehabilitation and replacement. Unfortunately, those investments are stretching limited fuel tax revenues. And the bulk of the bridges needing rehabilitation or replacement are on county and township roads. Anything that we can do to help local leaders better understand bridge maintenance, new technologies and replacement options is time well invested." Gary Doerr, PE and Bridge Management Team Leader and NDLTAP Bridge Instructor.
