Winter Maintenance and Cold Weather Survival Training

Course Description

North Dakota public agencies deal with cold weather many months of the year. Local officials are exposed to icy roads, uninformed drivers, carbon monoxide and exposure. This training session will address the important winter maintenance and cold weather survival issues in these areas:

Winter Maintenance

  • Road Conditions
  • Driving Snow
  • Snow Plowing
  • Sanding and Salting
  • Deicing with Chemicals
  • Winter Maintenance Policies

Winter Survival

  • Winter Survival Overview
  • Carbon Monoxide/Hypothermia
  • Clothing and Cold Weather Gear

Speaker(s)

Steven V. Jenkins, PE, has worked with local governments for 25 years to help them improve their roadway systems. Having worked for a state DOT, directed two LTAP centers for cities and counties and worked for a private consultant, he has a unique rapport with these groups and perspective on how maintenance can be done simply.

Target Audience

Local officials who have to travel and work in the outdoors should attend this training. If there is a chance that you will become stranded or out of radio contact, or if you encounter a person that needs your assistance, please be prepared. If you are a new operator, seasoned professional, or elected official, please come and contribute to this course.

MCLEAN REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Wednesday, October 18, 2017

WALSH REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Thursday, October 19, 2017

There is a $50.00 registration fee. All participants will be invoiced by the NDLTAP after the training session.
